American League Divisional Series Ends Tonight

Yep, Robinson Cano knows he's good.  He's had a great postseason so far, but will his season continue?  Yankees have 2 outs and need to score 2 runs to win the game.

Clinch

Congratulations to the Milwaukee Brewers and Arizona Diamondbacks, who both clinched their respective divisions with solid wins last night.  It'll be nice to have some different teams in the playoffs this year.

This was the Brewers' first title in 29 years.

Mariano Will Save You

Congratulations to Mariano Rivera for tying the major league saves record, earning the 601st of his career and matching Trevor Hoffman while preserving the New York Yankees’ 7-6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday.

Derek Jeter Sets Yankees Record

Congratulations, Derek Jeter.

Today was his 2,402nd game with New York, breaking a tie with Mickey Mantle for most in a Yankees uniform. Jeter went 0 for 4 as the designated hitter.

Hopefully there are many more games to come.

Struggling Willis Leaves With Injury

I was really impressed with Dontrelle Willis during the early part of his career with the Florida Marlins.  He threw hard and won games.

A couple years later, his career is floundering.  I was actually amazed that the Cincinnati Reds even gave him a chance.

Hopefully, he can have more success.  Doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon, though.

Wilis made his seventh start of the season today and had trouble with his control. He gave up four runs on six hits and a pair of walks while retiring only eight batters. He also threw two wild pitches, one of them allowing a run to score.  After giving up a single in the third inning, the manager and trainer came out to the mound to look at him.  Willis left the game flexing and shaking his left (throwing) hand.  The Reds said he had a sore forearm and would be re-examined Monday.

Hopefully this doesn't set Willis back too far.

Uggla's Streak Hits 31

Dan Uggla's streak is still going.

Uggla extended his hitting streak to 31 games, the longest in the majors this season, with a two-run single in the first inning that sent the Braves past the Florida Marlins 6-2 Wednesday night for a three-game sweep.

Beltran On The Giants

The San Francisco Giants are gearing up for another playoff run.  Now they've got Carlos Beltran to bolster their outfield.

I think they've got a contender out in California.

The Madness Begins

Crap.  Michigan State just royally messed up my bracket.  I had them going a few rounds deep, and they're already eliminated.
